Litter of 16 total was born on 8/24/09.  One was stillborn for unknown reasons, and another runt also later died for unknown reasons leaving a healthy litter of 14 little eepers.  Bea is being an excellent mother with a beautiful nest, all the babies have milk bellies, and she and the babies are clean and warm. The father of this litter is unknown; She was paired with Gustav but she broke into the main buck cage and was bred by possibly all the bucks in the main buck pen. At that point there was nothing I could do about sires of the litter, so I just left her in with all. None of them were her brother or sire, so all the pairings are feasible, but the entire situation is not ideal. :)  I'm sure these babies will still be excellent pets, but will have only half of a pedigree filled in.  I'm expecting dumbos and top ears, in all sorts of colors and patterns.  I will know for sure which babies are available when they reach 2 weeks of age or so (9/7/09).  Pictures and other up dates UNTIL THEN will be posted here.  If you want to get put on the waiting list, please feel free to email.  Babies are also potential hets for mink, Russian blue, American blue, or siamese, but no guarantees. :)

An absolutely GIGANTIC litter of 19 was born of the Cricket X Rio pairing on 8/26/09.  Aside from normal bruising from Cricket assisting the delivery of such a large litter, the babies appear all to be healthy.  However, in every large litter usually the runts are too weak to get proper nutrition and two runts passed away.   Looks like I'm getting some nice patterns like Berks, Variegateds, Capped/striped, Banded, and Hooded. I also got a few Red Eyed pups in this litter, and I know the father doesn't carry Siamese.  I'm baffled about the appearance of Red Eyes, though my first guess is the common red/pink eye dilute, and Rio must be a carrier and passed on the recessive gene to Cricket as well. I should have more of an idea once the coat color comes in. :)
