Fancy Rats and Mice

Does

Name: Darleen
DOB: 5/08
Dam: Unknown
Sire: Unknown
Variety: Dumbo
Color: Black Variberk; Med. headspot and minimal white on sides.

Carries: Siamese

Darleen is a very sweet girl, but very protective of her litters. She is known as 'Demon' when in a cage with her litter, because she WILL attack, but once those ratlets are weaned or she's removed from the cage, she is instantly sweet again.  This doe is retired.

Name:  Pook
DOB: 8/08
Dam: Unknown
Sire: Unknown
Variety: Normal
Color: Black hooded

By far my favorite rat.  She is so personable and lights up whenever she hears my voice.  When allowed free time with my other rats, she always explores for a bit then runs back to me, and would rather sit in my lap and annoy me than run around.  She is retired.  She also had a recent bout of ear infection and now has a slight but likely permanent head tilt. I think it just adds to her personality. :)

Name: Cherry
DOB: 9/19/08
Dam: Darleen
Sire: Newton
Variety: Normal
Color: Self Siamese
(Newton X Darleen)

Carries: Dumbo

This girl was weaned from her mother and raised with Pook, so I believe a lot of Pook's personality rubbed off on her! She is friendly and energetic, liking a lot of time with me and also lights up when she hears my voice. She has lovely markings, I just love the contrast. She really is a beauty. This doe carries dumbo.

Name: Dolly
DOB: 11/10/08
Dam: Darleen
Sire: Newton
Variety: Dumbo
Color: Siamese Berkshire

Little Dolly is just the cutest thing. Those dumbo ears get me every time... :)  She has the teeniest head spot and no visible white on her sides. She's a large bodied doe, neither fat or preggo in the pic. Excellent breeding stock.

Name:  Lark
DOB: 11/10/08
Dam: Darleen
Sire: Newton
Variety: Normal
Color: Silvered Black Blazed Variberk

Carries: Siamese, Dumbo

Lark started as a very skittish doe, having grown up during my first exams in college. Lots of work after the exam weeks has turned her into quite the sweetheart.

Name: Inga
DOB: 11/08
Dam: Unknown
Sire: Unknown
Variety: Normal
Color: Russian Dove Berkshire

Carries: Mink, Siamese, Dumbo

This doe is lovely, and a pretty hard to find color to boot!  After quaranteen, she is now moved into the main doe pen.  She is warming up to people and enjoys getting attention but not being picked up.  She is the BEST mother I have, and is VERY vicious when she has a litter. Otherwise, she is sweet and a little timid, a very pretty doe.

Name:  May
DOB: 1/19/09
Dam: Cherry
Sire: Felix
Variety: Normal
Color: Black Poor/Mock dalmatian doe

Carries: Possibly dumbo, Possibly russian blue

I suspect this doe is a dalmatian because though her spots LOOK like she is a blue dilution, I believe it just to be the common dalmatian trait of having light hairs intermingling with their darker areas.

Name:  Beatrix
DOB: 1/2709
Dam: Lark
Sire: Felix
Variety: Normal
Color: Black Poor/Mock Dalmatian Doe

Carries: Possibly Dumbo, Possibly Russian blue

This doe was just too cute to pass up. She is a diluted black color - though it is not from any blue dilution.  Often black dalmatians appear diluted, even blue, because of white hairs intermingling.

Name:  Remmy
DOB: 1/30/09
Dam: Pook
Sire: Rio
Variety: Normal
Color: Black, poor Hooded Doe

Carries: Slate (american) Blue, Dumbo

This lovely doe reminds me of her dam in almost every way. She's spunky and hyper, and of course is the one always getting into trouble. She has an incomplete hood but she doesn't have very many stray markings.  Carries Dumbo and American Blue.

Name:  Cricket
DOB: 1/30/09
Dam: Pook
Sire: Rio
Variety: Normal
Color: Agouti Hooded Doe

Carries: Slate (american) blue, Dumbo

This doe, full sister to Remmy, is like her dam in pattern if not in color.  She has a lot of her dam's spunk, too, though a little more laid back than her more hyper sister. They both have their moments, though. :)  This doe carries Dumbo, Black, and Blue. I decided to keep her on because I don't have any agoutis besides her father, and because her dam is retired, but such a good doe that I consider these two to be good breeding prospects.

Name:  Contessa (Tessa)
DOB: 3/10/09
Dam: Darleen
Sire: Rio
Variety: Dumbo
Color: Silvered Black Self Doe

Carries: Slate (american) blue

Tessa is a doe I had up for sale, though being a self black she was looked over.  I personally love selfs and I think she will fit into my siamese breeding program well.

Name:  Jemima
DOB: 3/10/09
Dam: Darleen
Sire: Rio
Variety: Dumbo
Color: Agouti Variegated
(Darleen X Rio)

Carries: Slate (american) blue

Sweet girl with lovely markings.

Bucks

Name: Newton
DOB: 5/08
Dam: Unknown
Sire: Unknown
Variety: Normal
Color: Silvered Black English/Irish

Carries - Dumbo, Siamese

Newton is my lazy boy.  Very docile and handleable, loves to snuggle. He is very sweet.  His silvering seems to be VERY dominant, because ALL of his black offspring show it clearly at a young age. He is silvering more and more with age. Newton has sired many litters but currently is pet only.

Name:  Rio
DOB: 8/7/08
Dam: Kindred (Dumbo Blue Agouti Berkshire)
Sire: Jimmy (Sky Blue Capped)
Variety: Dumbo
Color: American Blue Agouti Berkshire
(From Eeyore's Tails Rattery, Bred by Courtney DuCharme)

Carries -

My first blue rat, he's gorgeous. :)  Hoping he'll spread that color around and put lots of dumbo ears on his babies!

Name: Quidsquit
DOB: 11/08
Dam: Unknown
Sire: Unknown
Variety: Normal
Color: Pearl Merle Berkshire

Carries - Pearl,  Merle, Siamese, Dumbo, Mink

This buck was rescued from my favorite pet store's feeder tank along with my Russian Dove doe.  His dark spots are getting darker and more noticeable with time.

Name: Gilbert
DOB: 3/12/09
Dam: Inga
Sire: Quidsquit
Variety: Dumbo
Color: Mink Variberk

Carries - Siamese, Mink, Merle

Though difficult to see, this male shows merle spotting.  Many mink offspring from a litter with pearl merles often show merling. It can be difficult to see because merle spots are simply darker patches on an already dark animal - which is why blue dilutions or the pearl dilution is needed to better show off spots.  This male could easily be used to produce merle offspring.  Though he was solid mink when young, he has roaned out dramatically. The pictures show him from about 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and then recently.

Name: Phineas
DOB: 3/12/09
Dam: Inga
Sire: Quidsquit
